I’m Kelsey, a freelance writer covering stories about science and the environment.

Through my reporting and writing, I’ve learned to decode green in landscapes and read the lines in the rocks. I’ve ventured off the beaten path with biologists in state parks, and spent a day shadowing a poultry manager at a regenerative farm. My writing has been published in The Nature Conservancy Magazine, Audubon Magazine, Garden & Gun Magazine, Earth Island Journal, and more. I hold a master’s degree in science writing from Johns Hopkins University, and I currently live in Northern Alabama, within the lush Cumberland Plateau.
